HOW IT ALL STARTED
Master stylist Brenda McField, a graduate of Melrose Beauty Academy and Bay State College in Boston, developed the trade skills that have led to her success in various cities on the East coast. Her work experiences have taken her from New York, Boston, Washington D.C. and Miami. While attending the wedding of a college friend in New Orleans, she met her husband Floyd McField. He was living in Washington D.C. and she in Boston at the time when the two began a long distance relationship. After a few years and a marriage proposal, Brenda moved to Washington D.C. to prepare for the upcoming nuptials.
Floyd’s family ties are deeply rooted in New Orleans, so in August 2007 they moved to the city to settle into their new married life. Even though New Orleans was devastated from Hurricane Katrina, the fact that they would help rebuild the city was unquestionable. For Brenda, while the thought of starting, growing and building a business in an unfamiliar city was frightening, beginning a married life surrounded by family was imperative.
Brenda and Floyd share a commitment to rebuilding New Orleans and in October 2007, the McField’s opened Mariposa Salon and Spa. They’ve established a powerful relationship with the city, have established themselves as leaders in the hair industry, and continue to serve the beauty needs of the people of New Orleans with pride.
